Troodos Mountains , 2 days tour

The tour into the Troodos Mountains very interesting After arrival at the airport we visiting Lofou village. Opportunity to walk through the narrow streets, visit ancient sights and craft shops of Lofou village. Taste some fresh halloumi cheese and sip some Cyprus coffee.

Our next stop is traditional Village Omodos .We visit the church and Monastery Timios Stavros and we going to have a wine tasting in a local winery.

After the coffee break we drive to Mlllomeris Water fall , the highest and most beautiful waterfall of Cyprus.

After breakfast  we  visit the Holy Monastery of the Virgin of Kykkos was founded around the end of the 11th century by the Byzantine emperor Alexios I Komnenos (1081–1118). The monastery lies at an altitude of 1318 meters on the north west face of Troodos Mountains. There are no remains of the original monastery as it was burned down many times. The first President of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III started his ecclesiastical career there as a monk in 1926. He remained fond of the place and returned there many times. His request to be buried there materialized after his death in 1977. His tomb lies 3 km west of Kykkos monastery and remains a popular visitor destination . Possibility for Lunch  

Next stop is Ayios Nicolas tis Steyis . The interior walls of the church are adorned with a series of frescoes ranging over 600 years. The first phase of decoration began in the 11th century and survived the later raids and general deterioration due to time. Again, author A. H. S. Megaw comments on the decoration of the church, “what remains of its initial fresco decoration is not of the first class, it is still a reflection, if a somewhat remote one, of the central tradition of Constantinople. In heads such as those of the apostles in scenes and that of the Gabriel lately uncovered in the apse we see the deep-set staring eyes of the expressionist style which fresco painters of the time inherited from Byzantine miniaturists of the Macedonian renaissance” . The murals depict scenes from the life of Jesus, the Raising of Lazarus, the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, and some isolated figures.
